I just got back from a walk over to my local Kroger grocery store (King Soopers here in Colorado). I went there to get my FREE shingles vaccination at the Little Clinic within the store. The Little Clinic was out of the vaccine but I was able to get it in the pharmacy. I say FREE because I had a voucher from a program being sponsored by the St. Christopher Fund (on who’s Board of Directors I have sat for the last two years), OOIDA and NAIT (National Association of Independent Truckers). If you are a CDL holder you can go to the funds’ website at www.truckersfund.org and print out a voucher that can be redeemed at Kroger (pharmacy or Little Clinic) or Walgreens. The vouchers are different for Walgreens and Kroger. If you are a baby boomer like I am and had chickenpox when you were a kid, which most of us did, you are strongly urged by the medical community to get the shingles vaccination.
You can also print out a voucher for a free flu vaccination or pneumonia vaccination. Check the price of each vaccination before you use the vouchers because there is a maximum amount that can be charged. As I was leaving I asked the pharmacist how much the shingles vaccination would have cost if I did not have the voucher. His reply was $274.
THANK YOU ST. CHRISTOPHER FUND!!!
