KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – September 22, 2022 – The St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund (SCF) is excited to announce that AMBEST, the leading collective of independent truck stop and service center owners, is giving back a total of $31,150 for truck drivers in need. The funds were raised by owners and employees at the company’s annual meeting in Charleston, SC, and backed by a Corporate Match by AMBEST.
“We are so appreciative of the continued support from AMBEST and all of its members around the country,” said Donna Kennedy, Executive Director at St. Christopher. “Over the past several years, we’ve know we can count on support from this great organization, just like the drivers out there who rely on their truck stops and service centers to keep them rested and one the road. We are incredibly grateful.”
Over the past few years, AMBEST has raised nearly $100,000 for SCF to help semi-truck drivers and their families who have financial needs due to current medical problems.
“Growing up the son of a long-haul driver, our family was blessed that my father remained healthy and was always able to provide for us, however, we knew then and know today that many drivers have hardships and need a hand-up,” said Chuck Ryan, President & CEO AMBEST Inc. “AMBEST and our members are proud to work with The St. Christopher’s Fund to assist those friends in the industry who need help. It is our goal to constantly look for ways to make drivers lives on the road better and contributing to those who sacrifice so much to ensure that goods and products make it to locations so we all may live a better life.”
The SCF is the only nationwide nonprofit that provides short-term relief to Class A OTR drivers suffering from an illness or injury that took them out of work within the last year. The SCF also provides several free preventative health and wellness programs for OTR drivers in an effort to keep them on the road, including tobacco cessation, diabetes prevention, and flu, pneumonia and shingles vaccines.
