St. Christopher Fund Executive Director, Dr. Donna Kennedy, recently had her grandfather honored by the Honor Flight of North East Tennessee. This non-profit organization provided Mr. Salyers with the trip of a lifetime. Dr. Kennedy’s grandfather was given the opportunity to participate in a ‘wreath laying ceremony’ at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. He was also able to see several of the national monuments during his trip to Washington, D.C., such as the World War II Memorial and The Lincoln Memorial.
Mr. Glen Nolan Salyers was born in December of 1925. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy. He served his country proudly during World War II. After the war was over Mr. Salyers came home to Tennessee and got a job as a truck driver. He was a professional truck driver for over 30 years, driving mostly with Mason Dixon Trucking out of Kingsport, TN. Mr. Salyers served to keep our country safe, as well as, helped to keep economy moving for decades. We at St. Christopher Fund, are grateful for the service and sacrifice of Mr. Salyers and all of our trucking veterans.
